They didn't stop it. It now just constantly circles the globe as shown in the documentary "Snowpiercer".
Thats how I would describe it. Tons of CGI fighting and never any feeling that any of main characters were in danger.

Agreed. Another stretch is when they found malware "in their servers" and decided to leave it in. I get that they wanted to catch the mole but look what happened: an encrypted file got out into the public. They were lucky it was only one and not a whole bunch of files.

The whole thing reminded me of Jack Nicholson's quote from As Good as it gets:
