🤣 this 100%! He also played a teacher (albeit a convicted one) in the TV prison series Time Shaking his head could have meant, "it's not looking good" Let it go
I thought he would dial the number and try to confirm who was on the other line first
You're right, this is what I thought also. Just goes to show how unrealistically stupid his character was. Then again for the ending they wrote it had to be this way I guess.
Or is it something like "dont ever back out at the last minute" kind of thing
It's this. The people saying there is no message to the ending are wrong, there clearly is a message Same. Ending was trash. Bahamas ending or Elijah's character ending would have been better. But however I do also respect the message the real ending did send, don't be an idiot basically. A forensics cop that hated his job, was the runt of the pack and the butt of many of his colleagues jokes. He was cast perfectly Lol yes. Dog obviously was Trevor and Franklin would have been the big guy that likes his whisky neat Lol the bit where he is interrogating the baby mother and he says, "A phone number, good!" Reminded me of pulp fiction when Jules is eating the guy's burger breakfast 🤣 Disagree. But it was imperfectly done. Should have ended with him bloodied and dying tied to police car so it was clear it was a fever dream.
a huge twist near the end where all his meetings / calls with Williams were going to end up being illusions
...what? That would have been terrible. Please don't ever get involved with writing or making movies. The Machinist, yup very similar and awesome film I suppose you're right. The uncle wasn't necessarily a good person, but what I said in my OP rings true, ultimately he gave her many good things Ok. I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me or disagreeing I'm actually torn on this one, 50/50. Kudos Scorsese, excellent job. Or his 'rent' is the 50 bucks a week his mom asks for Many men have to pay 'rent' (some money at least) even if they live with their mothers still. It's probably why she was so interested in him getting to work on time. But yeh still open I guess It was bad, trust me. The material was OK I suppose, if delivered properly with good timing (exactly what he is told earlier in film). However Rupert's final act the way he did it was utterly cringe. The joke may have been Rupert's passive aggressiveness toward his mother. Many man-child loser types end up resenting or blaming their mothers for their predicaments. If he couldn't pay his rent I guess Mom had to pick up the tab once again... Pretty decent?? His whole act was absolutely average, Deniro and Scorsese nailed it pretty perfectly. Yehh sorry but as others said you missed point of the film. Take it from a guy that has worked stand-up scene, his act was absolutely average amateur you would catch in any local comedy bar on a week night.
