I don't know either but I suspect it's because of Michael Connolly. It's the same with the books - it manages to rise above the saminess of the police procedural and manages to feel like something that really talks about being human, having a job, making a difference etc. I love the books and love the TV series.
Titus Welliver is miles away what i imagined Bosch to be like but he nails it. And Lance Reddick is amazing at saying nothing and letting his face tell the story.
