welcome. Wasn't much depth in the movie to go more into depth with analizing it. ;) Kubrick would have never made a super hero movie so... I appreciate this message! Just received a Golden Globe. So poor judgement.... I think the other two were just false books- just like the scene in indiana Jones with all the grails he has to choose from…. Its a Comedy show.It is meant to be absurd. Yea, I Fan still enjoy it. some jokes are a bit dated now but still better than the most new shows… The Show Thematized this in several Episodes. Its because of dougs bad sperm…or so… Edit: Just got an Globe Nomination - what??? totally agree. it is full of clichees (arabian vocals above desert pictures) and still - he got a Golden Globe Nom. Totally absurd in my eyes! I think his last "hurra" was "bowfinger" (1999) just saw it with my 10 year old son and he said it wasnt that funny. I had to admit that there are only some gags and funny scenes but that there is a lot of scenes that where not funny or not that funny as intended... I mean there is a 3-4 hour cut of this film and I nearly thought this one was too long anyway. Dont get me wrong. I like the movie. I bought the Bluray. But somehow my son is right on that one.... I would go further and say: When you don't notice the soundtrack while watching the movie but you can still have a nice listening experience as standalone then the composer made a great job. this is very rare theses days because many composers stay away from "melodies" or "themes" just because they are affraid of being to obvious in the picture. Thats why many soundtracks are no good listening experiences and dont work as standalone... I am not that happy with the soundtrack... Zimmer claims that he invented something new and very special for the world of dune but for me the score - as heard in the movie - was somehow only repetetive, loud and clische (arabian sounds + the desert, arabian/oriental sounding vocals + the fremen) One nice thing was the rhythm drums on the harkonnen planet. That was kind of nice but anyway I missed some sort of themes in this music. The old 1984 Version had a nice soundtrack with real themes - this is mostly a ear droning repetetive mess... May be but in the trailer you see already a dozen things that happen exactly the same like in the 1st one. And that is really poor. I feed sad for the actors - but they obviously also need money... interesting read - thank you!!! yes and for the rest of the score he has his ghostwriters. I like some of the old zimmer stuff which he did on his own in the 80s and in the beginning of the 90s... he is not conducting at all. he is programming his sounds at the computer... He has this one look, which was needed for the Character of Paul I guess. He turns out like a soft version of kylo ren in this movie. The acting is very weak in this movie anyway.... I saw it yesterday in Germany. I had bigger expectations i must say. It was a 3D screening and I must say: Don't watch it as 3D-Screening version. There are no scenes where 3D is nessecary or even noticable. After watching the villeneuve dune I have to say that I prefer the 1984 Version with all its flaws. The 1984 Version had great costumes, Set Design, a great Cast, "interesting" storytelling (usage of the Off-dialogue) and a solid interesting soundtrack. I really normally like Villeneuve Movies but this one was nothing special. The cast puzzled together to have every ethnical group being considered. You just see it that way. Paul (Chalamet) looked absolutly like kylo ren with the hair cut and the emo face all the time. The Baron was ok but could have been far more impressive. The Baron in the 1984 version is disgusting but fascinating. The cast was in general somehow not convincing. I dont know why but I felt not that involved in their conflicts. The soundtrack: Ok, Hans Zimmer - where should I begin... Heavy drumms, and deep brass and everytime the desert is in the screen you hear arabian sounds (vocals, etc.) I mean, come on. Desert = Arabian sounds??? Here and there he added some e-guitar but the soundtrack from 1984 had far more character. Wasnt perfect either but this was Hans Zimmer on Auto Pilot. Although I liked the experience to be in cinema again after this corona pandemic but all in all I am not very interested in a second part.
