social media has the ability to popularize labels nowadays. Chad, Stacy, Karen, etc become household words in months. Chester , ok, that's been around awhile.
James Bond would be a mary sue for me. some stunts cross the line for me. just called it ridiculous and moved on. though some Bond movies are fun. like the restaurant scene in Anna (2019) comes off as john wickish, bad ass and fun without being super silly, even though there are knit picks in there, to the point of being a mary sue.
i can deal with some superhuman aspects as you said with knowledge of training/background. but imo Mary Sue's abilities bring you out of the movie. thats the line that is determined by each viewer i guess.
the term "climate change" is a political term itself to make it sound as if the science is settled. Climate has always changed, period and with little to no human impact . "man made climate change" is still disputed to the amount of impact (especially catastrophic impact) by human intervention.
"the 97% of scientist agree" argument is a little disingenuous when looking at the methodology of the most influential paper by john cook in 2013. he took about 12k climatologist study summaries, disregarded any summary not mentioning anthropogentic global warming, about 8k of them were disregarded. out of the remaining 4k.... 97% of summaries mentioning AGW see man made CC as a significant impact.
he couldve said "32% of climate study summaries see AGW as a significant impact". but that doesnt sound as impressive as a 97% consensus.
climatologist Judith Curry whose paper was part of the 32% has come out against "climate alarmism". .

there are plenty of scientists that disagree on the level of human impact.
so when you say "climate change".
do you mean that climate changes? man made CC (how much?)? or catastrophic CC?

the seasons i watched were last man standing. newer seasons they're trying different things. i havent seen them. it wasnt even 'alone' one season, it was pairs of family members. so each newer season might be a little different.
the first 2 seasons were Vancouver Island. they are dropped off miles apart from another. whoever can bear the conditions longest wins. its real stuff not game show "survivor" crap.
1 guy drinks contaminated water gets f'd up and is trying to grab the moon and stars.
the contestants say afterwards that its even harder than it looks cause they have to setup the cameras and tripods themselves and lug around 50lbs of camera batteries. the first two seasons lasted about 60 days to get down to 1 person.
i watched a few seasons. first season was very good. the survivalists were completely side swiped by the ungodly horrible location conditions. it was like DAMN!
the second season all the contestants were prepared for the same location. the third season they switched locations, but it wasnt as rough. it wasnt as interesting. so, its been chasing the magic of the first season since. i want to check it out again, i just dont think it can match the first season.
its been a tap out show. quite a few tap out in the first few days as reality hits them. the all talk "bear should be scared of me" guy... first day....sees bear... quits.
