There was a certain amount of irony in this particular scene...that's true. It was still gruesome, nonetheless.
Frankly, I thought the scene with Gleeson and the rabbit was rather gruesome, but to each their own.
That might be an interesting possibility, because the movie's so very short. Thanks for the ideas.
Okay. Thanks, kspkap.
Let me say this, Wint3rFir3: I don't enjoy being a captive listener to other people's personal conversations on cell phones in the movies, or in a restaurant. There's a time and place for everything, and restaurants, movies, museums, etc., and while driving are not appropriate times for people to be talking/texting on their cell phones.
I stand by all that I've said, jamesboland. It's extremely inconsiderate and rude to keep people waiting in line while they're yakking on their cellphones about whatever. I feel that if I'm being held up by a conversation on a cellphone by somebody standing in line ahead of me, that I've got the right to say something, and I will. I'm not interested in learning about whatever the inconsiderate person who's talking/texting on his/her cell phone is talking while I'm waiting in line at the check-out counter to pay for what I've purchased and leave. People's cell phone conversations should be limited to when they're not in their cars, or not in line at a check-out counter.
I disagree with you here, jamesboland. People have absolutely no right to endanger other people by talking on their cellphone while driving...in any instance. If someone really feels the need to call to tell them that they'll be late in coming home for whatever reason, or are in the early stages of a relationship, or conducting business transactions while driving, whether they're in Uber, etc., or not, or they pass a roadside memorial for a friend, and wish to reach out to the family right away, there's absolutely NO excuse for people not pulling over to make such phone calls, or, if they're on a highway, to pull over into a rest area, or a service area, to make those calls.
People who wish to make cell phone calls on the road should not have the right to endanger people while driving. Driving is something that needs one's undivided attention, and when they're distracted by talking or texting on their cell phones, their attentions are diverted from driving.
It's not infringing on people's civil rights to tell them not to text or talk on the cell phone while driving.
Sorry about that, kspkap. Thank you for correcting me. My bad.
A lot of public places, including restaurants, as well as movie theatres, museums, etc., have people who get tough on those using their cell phones in public there, because they are rude.
For years, Israel has had a system in place that causes cell phones, pagers, or whatever to jam up whenever people attempt to use them in public places, such as restaurants, movie theatres, museums, etc. Israel is a much smaller country than the United States, and, unlike the United States, they've got the technology and the know-how, to set up such a system.\
I also don't like being a captive listener to a cell phone user's personal conversation(s) in public. It's rude.
Sorry that you had so much trouble, Catbookss.
Sorry that you had such a problem with Waze, Catbookss. I wonder if the weather might've had at least something to do with it, however.
I remember taking a road trip up to Portsmouth, NH (which is roughly an hour north of the Bay State), for a screening of the film West Side Story, using both Route 1 and Route I-95 to get there, and having no trouble. Maybe the fact that it was a nice, bright and sunny spring day helped a great deal. Who knows?
Oh, wow! Did you have to have your card frozen, or was it still okay?
Again, you're welcome, Catbookss. It's good that you called off the trip, and visited your friend in Asheville, NC, where Irma's fury wasn't as destructive.
The fact that Florida is totally surrounded by water is what makes it so vulnerable to being totally inundated when hurricanes and other natural disasters hit.
Hi, Catbookss.
You're welcome. Glad your trip worked out for you. From what I read/heard about the weather, it sounds like you did the best and the smartest thing by postponing your trip. Glad you enjoyed yourself, and enjoyed seeing your old friend, as well.
I drive early in the evening, sometimes even when it's already dark, but I won't drive during really late hours. Since I've been an AAA member for the past 25 years, I always order a Trip-Tix, which gives me the most direct routes out there and back. It pays to do that, as well. I also have a smart-phone, in which I've downloaded the Waze app, so I can also use it as a GPS. It's got a voice that gives directions, as well, so I don't have to take my eyes off the road to look at it. I've used it to get to places I'm not familiar with, plus it's saved me wear and tear on my nerves during rush-hour, which can be really hellacious in the Boston area, because it often routes me onto the back roads, thus enabling me to avoid the worst of the rush-hour traffic. It's cool.
I've driven long distances on the road, so I'm no stranger to that. As a woman driving long distances alone, however, I make it a point not to drive really late at night, and, when I go to bed down for the night, not to pull into a place that looks questionable, or that is too far off of the beaten path, if one gets the drift. I've been making the reservations for my stopovers in advance, which helps, a great deal, too.
I used to drive out to Iowa City, IA from Somerville, MA, virtually every year, to visit my sister, who lived out there, to visit her. It was two nights out on the road, and two nights back. There's something very refreshing, about being on the road, in control, and being able to make one's own schedule. Stopping to stretch my legs whenever I felt like it was great, too. Flying is too much of a pain in the neck, now. I wouldn't fly if someone was paying me to do so. There are too many horror stories that abound, now.
If I can drive roughly halfway across the country to Iowa City, IA, I could drive across country to Las Vegas, NV, where my sister will be moving pretty soon. I've dreamed of driving across country, and plan to drive out to Las Vegas, when the weather is better, in the spring.
You did the wise thing by re-scheduling your trip to visit your friend who lives near Tampa, FL. Here's hoping you had a good time visiting your friend, when you finally did get to go.
Have you ever been in an Alamo Draft House Cinema? Just curious.
Maybe if people had more tact and didn't multi-task and force other people to wait an unnecessarily long time in the line behind them, they wouldn't have all those judging eyes on them. If the cashier can't stand working for afew hours without a break, s/he shouldn't work as a cashier, then.
Did it ever occur to you that there are calls that should only be made in the privacy of one's own home? Personal phone calls shouldn't be made out in public, anyhow. Nobody cares to hear them, or to be held up by them, either.
That makes sense, Barclays. Thinking is far more than many, if not most people do, nowadays, if one gets the drift.
