This film never fails to entertain 10/10 for me!
I was actually surprised that Steve made it through last season, even more so that he and Nancy were still a couple. Steve kinda redeemed himself though, especially when he dropped his two obnoxious friends. I wonder if the two of them will play a part in the story this season? I believe at some point that Jonathan and Nancy will become a couple, if that were to happen, Steve may rejoin with his two friends and they might all three be destined to meet the Monster.
I can see him joining forces with Nancy again, quite possibly in a more intimate way. For those that ship them, they may get their wish.
Speaking of Jonathan, I listed him as most underrated character. I really like Jonathan, very interesting character, well written and well performed.
I knew very little about David Harbour before Stranger Things. I've seen him in other films but no major roles, and I think this is his best work from what I've seen so far. He seems really passionate about his role as Hopper and it definitely shows on the screen.
I really like Hopper also. Not so much in the beginning, due to his cavalier attitude, but he redeems himself over the course of the story even before we know much about his tragic past. He's one of my favorite characters for sure.
Of the main cast I would say Jonathan, he is easily one of the more interesting characters who's not in the spotlight so to speak. He's a loner, an outcast, no real friends, a recluse hiding behind his photography. Despite his bitterness toward life, he truly loves his brother and he is much more a father figure to him than their loser Dad will ever be.
I'm glad I stumbled upon this post, excellent analysis describing Willie and Marty's relationship.
Thanks OP!!!
All good points and I'm sure that level of trust doesn't come easy for her, seeing how she is a little bit shy. Keeping things to herself would be typical of her quiet nature not to mention the fear and sadness she has had to endure. I can't help but feel that somehow the tattoo holds a special meaning for her, as you mentioned it's one of the few things in her life that shapes her identity.
Yea I think it's very likely that part of their story moves in that direction. I think it would be perfect for their characters if they bonded in that way, because they both possess what the other is missing.
Yea the bullies definitely needed to be taught a lesson and I don't think they have ever encountered anyone quite as feisty as Eleven.
Keep us informed as you watch the remaining episodes, this board needs a little action while waiting for season 2!
Yes she is and I'm assuming he is the only parental figure she has ever known. Sad!!!
You are sure to love all the episodes it only gets better. Enjoy!!!
I agree very impressive film. The fact that Besson, Reno and Portman were relatively unknown at the time may have influenced some voters to look the other way, but I still believe their relationship was more influential overall, it's still a touchy subject even today.
I believe he went to his job first. At that time I think his work still takes precedence over everything else, later we see that Mathilda becomes the most important thing in his life.
This thread kinda got interrupted when IMDB announced the closing of the message boards, but it's still a topic that I'm curious about. Why is Eleven protective of her tattoo? Does she recognize that it makes her a little different than the people she has been in contact with? Could the tattoo possibly hold a special meaning for her? It was suggested that she may be protective of her arm instead, possibly a bad experience for her that she still remembers. This may very well be the case, but since the writers made a point of showing her protectiveness on more than one occasion, I feel it's more about the tattoo. I believe this topic is going to surface again somewhere in the storyline, if so maybe they will reveal the answer.
Leon walked out on Mathilda when she began expressing her love for him, possibly because he was experiencing the same feeling. I believe Leon had Mathilda on his mind rather than his work, and this may have also resulted in his injury. Apologizing by getting her a gift was more important
No doubt it was the relationship between Leon and Mathilda that made voters look the other way. It's a shame really, there were definitely Oscar worthy performances given by Reno and Portman.
Plot holes have always been and always will be a part of Cinema and Television. Most of them can be explained by using your imagination which is what the storyteller intended for us to do. For me, if the story is structured properly and the characters are engaging, I can omit them by looking deeper into the story
