Shemp was the original member of the Stooges during their early years... Moe, Shemp and curly were actual brothers. Curly then stepped in and after his stint he was replaced again with brother Shemp after Curly suffered a stroke. Shemp had a brief return then suffered a massive heart attack and died. Moe and Larry Fine looked for replacement members after that. You are correct. Barry Allen was never the jokester type(albeit light-hearted) and I've read Flash comics since the 70s. Even read the older books before my time as well. WB should've just cast Miller as Wally who's always had that demeanor. I realize that many younger fans are use to a jokey type Flash because they' grew up with Wally from the comics and the Bruce Timm cartoons. So the studio decided to use that personna instead of the more straight-laced Allen. This is just me speculating as to why they used that liberty. In any regard, some of the Flash's jokes got a chuckle out of me but mostly many of the jokes just didn't land. More forced IMO. That's not Barry Allen. No way. It's like turning a jokey Spider-Man during his battles into a cutter lol. Dirk Benedict as Hal Jordan is a great choice. He kinda shares that same demeanor as the character plus looks the part. I was going to suggest Kevin Costner as Green Lantern because not only does he remind me of Hal, the actor was a really hot commodity at the time...he was a strong box office draw back then. Or if they went multicultural with the team, Carl Weathers (Action Jackson, Predator)as John Stewart. Christopher Reeve as Superman is a no-brainer. Otherwise I would never watch it if he wasn't cast. And for Martian Manhunter, I'd choose Bill Duke (Predator, Commando). Lightman42, it's great and it was imperative that you kept the truth to this film. 100% agree with you. This is easily the best incarnation of The Punisher that's still cinematic gold. Stevenson and Lundgren pretty much exuded the right demeanor for Frank Castle as well as looking physically imposing in the role. Jane had his moments but I just didn't feel The Punisher with him in the 2004 movie (bad pacing for starters). The fan short "Dirty Laundry" was as close as he's gotten to the actual character. We'll just respectively agree to disagree. It wasn't a great movie. Glad you liked it though. That's all that matters, yes? I saw it the other day and it was pretty decent. No where as good as many reviews would have you believe. I sincerely wanted to have that "hell yeah!" moment upon exiting the theater because I've loved DC characters since I was a kid; WB needed a comic book film that stood above the other DCEU attempts. First 2/3rds of the film had WW on its way to being a gem only to come out kinda meh by the final boss fight. I wanted something more like The Incredible Hulk and Abomination instead of what I got. When Gadot isn't speaking at times and is just kicking ass, she's really good at it (this is the highlight of her in the role) but she isn't a very good actress IMO. Some of her delivery was cringe-worthy. Also the movie OD'ed on the use of slo-mo in parts where it just wasn't needed. Patty Jenkins did a good job but it wasn't fully realized. I just call it the best of the mediocres( with the exception of Suicide Squad which is just BAD) I do think that Jenkins and Gadot deserve a sequel however with better writing and pacing in key parts..
