That day is almost here! My hope is that it will include never before seen footage such as the wedding scene between David and Sarah that never made it into the movie. This is my favorite Phoebe Cates film and it's far better and more entertaining than The Blue Lagoon.
Too many people as well as the media give this movie so much bad press, but apart from Willie Aames' atrocious acting and the pointless chimpanzee scenes this movie is well worth the watch...for Phoebe of course, but it's not a bad film and it's definitely not a boring one. I was far more entertained by Paradise than by The Blue Lagoon where you don't really see Brooke Shields in the nude, she's either covered up or a body double was used. Not too mention The Blue Lagoon took a long time to get going whereas in Paradise they really cut to the chase and Phoebe Cates really delivers the goods upon the viewer. I got the Studio Canal DVD that was issued in Spain that is completely uncensored and doesn't blur out Willie Aames's penis during the skinny dipping swim scene with Phoebe. This will always be one of my favorite films that helped me during puberty and a nude Phoebe Cates still gets a hard erection from me.
Nicole Kidman and Billy Zane are the real stars of the film. The movie sizzles when both are on screen at the same time.
As an 11 year old in 1983, I loved Return Of The Jedi. As an adult, it's my least favorite of the OT, mainly because of the silly Ewoks and the fact that they reused the Death Star when they should have come up with something different. Was massively disappointed with the Prequels (George Lucas raped my childhood) for its bad acting, even worse dialogue, and that it ruined the backstory leading up to the Original Trilogy. It also ruined the backstories of both Anakin and Boba Fett, so I find it hard to accept the Prequels as canon. I haven't watched them in their entirety since 2006. As for Disney, I knew back in 2012 when George sold it that they were going to ruin it. I never fell for the hype and took a wait and see approach. When Disney got rid of the Expanded Universe and the scathing reviews came in from longtime fans I have boycotted every single Disney Star Wars film. All that crap is non canon to me, even Rogue One and the Mandalorian. The only real Star Wars to me is the unaltered non-cgi Original Trilogy and the EU, nothing else.
Yup, it will always be "Star Wars" to me. Despite the fact that the "Episode IV A NEW HOPE" was added in 1981 the mainstream media didn't start referring to it as A New Hope until 1996, just a year prior to those horrendous 'Special Editions' coming out.
Stop spreading your lies, you don't know Sam Neill. In fact, you don't know jack sh*t about anything. You're just here to waste our time spewing nonsense and spreading your hateful vitriol.
You guys may try and double down with your petty arguments and childish behaviour, but SaraceänWarriner is right. If you REALLY watch the film and completely analyze it you'd come to the same conclusions he's pointed out. This is Rae's story of loss and gain, of weakness and strength, of her evolving from timid housewife to a brave seductive and resourceful warrior woman. The events that transpired aboard the Ingram yatch was due to her husband's carelessness and forced her in a position where she needed to do what had to be done in order to rescue him and survive herself. Even though Hughie was an obstacle she had to overcome there was no doubt there was a physical attraction between the two. Her reactions to him during the seduction were genuine and not an act just to survive. She willfully wrapped her arms around him during their kiss, allowed him to undress her and lifted her arms so he could remove her shirt. Grinding against him and kissing his chest as well as her allowing him inside her and experiencing a sex flush. So all your arguments to the contrary fall flat.
Your childish demeanor in insulting our posts clarifying our views on the film shows that it's you who needs the help. Venting and spewing your crap isn't going to change my position regarding Dead Calm.
The film fully implies John to be a beta male and a cuckold despite him being a naval officer. I fully agree with you that he would have consented his wife bearing the child of another man rather than lose her and also due to the fact that because of his careless decisions he owes Rad his life because she had to go out of her way to rescue him. So even if he found out that Hughie impregnated his wife he would have to accept it due to his fault in abandoning Rae and leaving her alone with a younger stronger suitor who was more virile and more capable of fulfilling her needs and desires.
It also brings the story full circle, after rescuing her husband, Rae and John's marriage is saved and she now has a new child to love and care for within the loving confines of her union to John.
While you may state the contrary, this was not a rape incident but the physical union between two troubled individuals seeking fulfillment.
