Sigh. Great remakes? -Carpenter's The Thing -Ben Hur with Heston -Scarface with Pacino -Invasion of the Body Snatchers from the 70s -Pride & Prejudice Miniseries -Bram Stoker's Dracula -Mary Shelley's Frankenstein -The Fly with Goldblum -King Kong with Bridges -A Fistfull of Dollars with Eastwood -Scorsese's The Departed -Nolan's Insomnia with Pacino - Spielberg's War of the World's -Cameron's True Lies -American version of Funny Games (not sure if I like this actually but thought it to be superior to the original) -Mann's Heat with Pacino & De Niro -Scent of A Woman with Pacino -The Birdcage with Hackman & Williams -Against All Odds with Bridges -Evil Dead -American version of Let Me In -The Last House on the Left -The Hills Have Eyes Mattie certainly looks a lot older from when she first heard of Rooster's death, she had white hair. But judging by her clothes, that last scene by the grave should not be more than 10 years. The 1910s had a very different styled dresses, think what the women wore in Wonder Woman in London. The 1920s had even shorter dresses than the 10s. But let's assume Mattie was simply an older woman who wasn't fashionable, her age still doesn't match up to her clothing or time period at the end, because if this was 10 years after his death she should be 49 only yet her white hair made her look past 60. So let's say she was a badly aging 60 year old, her clothes don't look (even if she was behind in fashion) like they belong in 1924. At the very least I would expect her to be wearing clothes from the 1910s, not the 1900s. Are you associating being Black with ugliness? That's messed up, wow. I think he said that to point the obvious and that there was no need to make more out of it. They did a somewhat similar thing on 3rd Rock From the Sun. Loud mouth low life? I think you're projecting her past characters unto this. She didn't exhibit such traits, just an inconsolable grieving mother. Huh? I thought both Perez and Bridges were fantastic in this actually. I agree, this was indeed poorly executed. But this is far from the worst film out there or that I've seen. I watched this merely for Bobby Cannavale and both his character and Famke were poorly written. I really dislike her character, taunting the ghost that got the kid killed so brutally. I found that strange as well. She couldn't take out the trash, go to the basement or attic? Why not adjust the perimeter of the ankle bracelet by a few more feet? I gave this a 10/10 rating. Without that ending, I would've given this an 8/10. I saw this as a kid but didn't understand it and rewatched it again today, and I agree, the end was touching, searing, and beautiful! I agree, she was very good here. According to Jeff Bridges he was 20 when he made this film, so she must've been 19 at the time. Thank you for sharing, very interesting! That was sad indeed since he was so scared but it was stupid of him to go back for a picture. I felt worse for Bridges and his wife tbh. People go to IMDb for reviews or ratings all the time. The first title threads are seen in the first page before you enter the message board. Also the poster commenting that it's ok to spoil older films clearly hasn't seen that many find and has limited view of such things. Films have been a medium for over 100 years, books and novels much longer. People are born daily without the pre knowledge of novels and films, no one has ever seen every single film or read every single book in history. So does that mean every single film or novel should be spoiled just because it's more than a year older? How limited is your thinking? Lol! I knew it! Rocky always trusted Paulie more than Adrian did. Like I said in another thread, you guys have an overly suspicious and malicious mind, everything is pedophiliac with you guys. You should watch Witch Hunt to open your eyes, scary. He was just being overly excited and a superfan over wrestling. He used to wrestle but apparently was lousy at it and he's reliving that fantasy with the kids, Kyle especially. His marriage was rocky and stressed so he's looking for some type of escape.
