So, I guess that the way they're going to turn Lucifer into the frenemy Crowley was is by bringing in a Michael that is even more evil than he is, so when they both get out of the AU, the Winchesters will be on Lucifer's side.
I really can't stand the idea of Dean and Sam being parents to a literal man-child. This quote from the article, specifically annoys me:
If season 12 was about children coming to terms with their moms as adults, then season 13 is very much about Sam and Dean as parents.
because I think that if that was the message of season 12, it was so poorly done, I have little to no hope for the message of season 13 coming through or being done in any satisfactory way.
Also, I find the - "Neither would have willingly brought a child into this life, but once they see him as a person, bonds will form" - is just What? He's like 19, and he's not their child that they willingly or unwillingly brought into the world. They spent all of season 12 chasing their tails on finding Kelly and just managed to show up in the finale in time for Jack to be born. He's a badly concealed version of a Cousin Oliver trope, something I always see as the start of a painful death for a show, because it loses sight of the dynamics that make the show work in the first place. I haven't seen one work yet to invigorate an aging cast to appeal to younger demographics. It's insulting and shows the writers really do believe all the 'old' jokes they do on the show these days.

Baby was dirty. Now she's clean. That's about it.
This one might give a little more.

Yeah, I'm thinking that's just someone screwing around. There wasn't a set up for this to happen in 13.1 unless it's in the AU and AU!Bobby lied about Sam and Dean being born in that universe. I'm just not seeing it if it's intended to be our Sam and Dean. And if AU!Bobby was lying - why? Why put that in canon and then the next episode say, 'He lied,' if for no other reason than poor planning? And if it's that poorly planned, then I'm hesitant to think it will be good. It also sort of messes with my concept of Mary learning a lesson about all the good her sons have done by being stuck in a world where they were never born.
I have to confess. My favorite scene is when Dean admits he's afraid of flying too. It adds another layer to his character early on in the show, and he's willing to put that fear aside, so that Sam doesn't have to go on the plane alone.
I think my next favorite scene is the exorcism on the plane. Although you can tell at this point in the show that Sam is supposed to be the lead with Dean as his sidekick. (I think this changed before the season was over). It's just the way that it was shot with Sam standing tall in the middle of the plane doing the exorcism and Dean screaming at the back of the plane for comic relief.
I agree with Cassiopeia. I think they should've continued using 'Christo' after this. They didn't, but I'm glad that two-part exorcisms weren't done after this.
Something I didn't like. I didn't like Sam blowing off Dean's achievement of making an EMF out of an old walkman. It's always just rubbed me the wrong way.
I don't think there were any scenes I didn't understand. It was pretty straight forward and our first look at demons. It set up some of the cannon we still have for them today, like their black eyes, and I like that it gave us a reason why some people are possessed although I think that's been forgotten in recent years, specifically that the people who were possessed had a chink in their armor that allowed the demons to take hold. I think maybe the last time we had this implied was in season 7 when Bobby is dying, and we see that it was only a few days after he told his wife that he didn't want to have children that she was possessed. Also, we've lost the superhuman strength that demons had. I mean in Phantom Pilot, the demon was strong enough to open a plane door mid-flight, and after we were introduced to more demons, I always thought of this one as a lower-level demon (compared to Meg, Azazel, etc.). It didn't have telekenesis or teleport, etc. Now, I can't help but think about lower demons who act like teenagers.
Same here. What happened to the idea for discussing old episodes? Maybe we could start that back up again?
I agree with Bella about the Alphas. There should be one for every monster species out there, but I'd also add that Eve should have explored more, maybe throughout S7 with the Leviathan and Eve raising their own monster armies against one another. I think they should have done more with the Purgatory storyline. The set up for it in the S7 finale was good, but then they did a time jump, and we got what we got at the start of season 8. I think they should have explored or maybe gone a different way with the angels in S9.
I'll admit that I didn't like the idea for Demon!Dean when it was first introduced in the S9 finale, but they went there, so they should have followed through on it. Instead of curing him in the 3rd episode of S10, they should have at the very least had him cured in the 200th episode, but really, I'm thinking it would have been interesting if he stayed a demon a little longer and maybe worked with Sam, hunting while he figured out which side he was on - humans or demons - enjoying killing for the sake of killing as he went along and Sam putting some work into finding the cure behind his back - much like he did with the Mark, I suppose, and maybe it still could have been for the Mark.
In S11, I think they should have explained what Amara wanted from Dean. I don't think it should have been a non-con thing the way it was played at times. It was just cringeworthy to me, especially with the lack of explanation for it until the end in a simple she wanted Dean to replace Chuck. I think it should have stayed strictly platonic, like maybe she wanted him to be her champion, but he was done killing. I could live with him not killing as much in S11 and 12 if there was an explanation for it. In S12, there was a lot I didn't like, but I think Mary's journey/struggles would have been better to follow. It wouldn't have trashed her character as much if we saw that instead of one episode she's struggling, the next she's the best hunter that's ever lived.
Not to be mean, Bella, but I don't think there's any way that Sam and Dean will be in the spin-off once Supernatural is over. Their story has always been a tragedy. I fully expect it to end a tragedy, their only legacy being whatever is in the spin-off if there is a one, because either one or both will die. I could see how the idea for an open ending, like one of them saying, 'we've got work to do,' before they head off down the road would work for them being on the spin-off, but I think J2 have wanted their characters to go die with the show for a long time now, their fees for a guest appearance would probably be way too high for the spin-off, and they've recently said they don't want to do a movie after the show is over, so I don't think an open ending is going to happen.
I could be wrong, but if SS had been the end of the show, I think they both would have ended up in the cage. That didn't happen, and I think that now they've got to build up to an ending like that again for there to be any kind of satisfying payoff, but I genuinely believe that with TPTB's attention being on the spin-off instead of on Supernatural, that won't happen. Whatever we get in season 13 will be just as sloppy as what we got in season 12, if not more so. If season 14 can only be negotiated to the 300th episode, then I suspect the spin-off will be picked up for the remaining episodes of what would have been season 14 in a shortened season, and I'm guessing that means that the final season of Supernatural will be compromised too. I hope I'm wrong, but that's the way I see it.

Yeah, I'm hoping that we'll get more of a badass Cas in S13 too. I kept waiting for it, and Cas just seemed to get sadder and sadder in S12. I hope how he was in the finale wasn't all we get going forward.
I also love the thread title, that has to be my favorite quote from Cas ever!
Thanks! Mine too. ; )

I don't know how they'll do it with their budget, but to me, it looks like they'll be spending more time in this universe and the AU (maybe even more AUs in their search for the AU in the finale?').
I think they're going for something of a 'The Upside Down' vibe from Stranger Things for the AU because of the way that the 'N' and 'P' of SPN are switched and the 'P' is inverted on one half of the Impala and the S stays the same on the other half of the Impala.
I think it could have been better if we hadn't been given a look behind the curtain every damn time the BMoL did something wrong, but that's not what you asked, uh . . . I think that maybe they still could've had the BMoL be villainous if they dialed it down and made them menacing instead of one-dimensional and if they'd had another MoL from somewhere else in the world show up who would have been 'good' in comparison. If not another chapter of the MoL - French edition or whatever, I originally thought at the start of the season that we'd seen Sam and Dean teaming up with Rowena and witches more to counter the BMoL, because there's more history there with the MoL vs. witches, but they didn't do that. Instead they had Sam join the BMoL because apparently it was easier than being a leader, which was just . . . blech!
Yeah, I think I'm just about talked out when it comes to the BMoL.
It was rather sad. It's interesting to look back at it now and see how much of it is about the sins of the father being visited on the children and grandchildren, something I suppose you could argue is what happened to Sam and Dean because of Mary and John.
First of all, I really like Amy Acker, so I like that she's in this one. Also, I think Dead in the Water tends to get overlooked, but what I like about it is that we get more Dean-character building in it through his interactions with Lucas. It's also got that somewhat iconic scene where Dean jumps into the water to save Lucas and then breaches the surface with him. My favorite scenes are the ones between Dean and Lucas.
Somebody on tumblr collected more of what was said.

I loved Dean in this episode. I didn't really have any qualms. Before we saw the wendigo in the mines, did it remind anyone else of the Predator?
