This post has been deleted because it was the hermaphroditic cheerleader from Long Island. Agreed. We're refugees, driven from our once-vibrant homeland after it was destroyed by its own tyrannical rulers, and now we're scattered across the land trying to find new pastures to settle and build a new civilization. This post has been deleted because it was throwing my WENUS all out of whack. It seems to me they made some attempts to expand the search features for the boards, but they just couldn't make it work right, for some reason, and eventually abandoned them. I actually really liked the basic layout. I live in a rural area with slow internet service and I have an older computer, and all those other websites that make everything so flashy just for its own sake are a real pain. I liked IMDb's simplicity. It was one of the attractions for me. This post has been deleted because it was not out of the blue! It was SMACK-DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BLUE! One of the things I didn't like was how they would periodically wipe boards after recent activity. So many great discussions were lost that way. I could understand with something like the politics board or the soapbox that were both super-active and not movie discussions, but when it's a board for a movie like A History of Violence (which wasn't even THAT active of a board), it was quite annoying. I still loved the site overall, but yeah, that was irritating. This post has been deleted because it was a moo point. The IMDb politics board basically turned into Stormfront by the end. I posted there a lot in the past but I stopped around 2011/2012 because it just became too much of a cesspool to deal with anymore. It basically became a den of trolls, racists and fascists to the exclusion of almost all else. The amount of hatred there was extraordinary, it would put a Klan rally to shame. So far the politics board on this site isn't too bad, but I already see signs of what it used to be. I agree, it might be better to just get rid of it. This is a movie site after all. That sucks, I hate when that happens. Well, hopefully they can figure out a way to authenticate who we are that takes all these factors into account. We're trying to bring attention to this site, to let people know the site exists so they can come here. It's possible that some people do it over-enthusiastically in ways that irritate people, but their intentions are good. This site isn't at the top of Google searches and it isn't able to advertise here and there. It's just getting started and it needs new people. I came here because people kept talking about it on Facebook. Word of mouth is what's gonna get this thing going. So that's what people are doing. This post has been deleted because sometimes, after you sleep with someone, you have to delete a post. One thing I think would be good would be to reverse the order of posts visible on your profile page, from oldest to newest. It's not a big deal now, but as we accumulate more posts, it's gonna be a nuisance having to scroll further and further down to get to our most recent posts. It should be more recent first. Also, eventually we're gonna need to divide threads into pages. There should also be options, as there were on IMDb, to choose your preferred size of page. Lots of people seemed to like the 25-post-per-page option, but I always had it on 50 posts per page. As others have said, though, no pressure. Jim is doing an awesome job. I'm just putting my two cents in for consideration, is all. This post has been deleted because it counted to 5 Mississippilessly. This post has been deleted because it was trapped in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre. You just take funny lines or events from the show and you work them into your post. This post has been deleted because it entered a Vanilla Ice lookalike contest, and won! It was implemented today, not long after wheelin176's comment. "At the risk of sounding selfish, I'd hope they wouldn't go with the e-mail thing. I used an old e-mail for my account there and I don't have access to it anymore. And with the amount of "I've been on IMDB for a decade!" posts I've seen floating around, I can't imagine I'm the only one." Don't you have to type in the email ID to log into IMDb? If the email address in question no longer exists (which it wouldn't, right, if you haven't had access to it in years? Don't most of them expire eventually if they aren't logged into enough?), then you could just remake it with the same ID, assuming no one else has made one with the same ID in the meantime, and it should still count because it would be connected to both the IMDb account and the MovieChat account. Again, that's assuming this would work. I don't know anything about this kind of stuff so I don't know if it would. Seems to me the people with the real problems would be the ones who deleted their IMDb accounts. I still have mine though, so if there's a way, i'm good. Hahahaha I forgot about imaneassi. I wonder if she'll migrate over here too. Maybe it's like saying Voldemort's name, you speak it and he knows and will come to punish you. Seriously though, I always just found her hilarious. She gave the board a certain "character". I understand why others hated her, but I just thought she was funny. Anyway, I wasn't really a frequent poster on the Friends board, but I did drop by there from time to time. So, for whatever it's worth, i'm here. [wave] I see what you did there. :P
