Thank all of you that responded.
I haven't really been able to concentrate on anything right now. But when I can I will.
Thank you..
It's hard
Yes, I remember that. It was quite touching.
I didn't watch the show but it caught my eye on youtube.
Scifi yes..great idea..thanks!
Thank you
Did they pass away in these films or break up?.
My significant other passed away
As a lifelong liberal and Dem I have witnessed a sort of flipping with the Parties. The left has become more authoritarian, more corporate, more corrupt and seem to want to cancel censor and destroy anyone they disagree with. They also seem to drive most media and journalist and want to be devisive by making individuals no more than their gender, their sexual preference, the color of their skin. They are the ones stereotyping everyone now .They have become group think which is the easiest to control. They hate freedom and common sense and seem to like war ....at least in the government.
The left has taken on the worst of what some once considered right wing qualities. Now the left is the most dangerous to democracy and freedom.
My balls are figuritive by saying what I think when it seems so unpopular here.
Don't misunderstand me. I don't want to take away the strong women but I don't care to see that exclusively. I don't enjoy the trend of weak or evil males either.
Weak and evil men aren't very hot.
I like hot men (because I am a woman)
Of course I am. 100%
Are you saying that females, blacks etc must only have one way of looking at the world.?
I try to be fair and impartial. I'm a person first.
I've never been a fan of extremes and the world is currently full of them.
As a woman I know exactly what you're saying.
And while, yeah, it's great to see more positive and multi faceted approaches to women and minority characters I don't particularly enjoy the trend of having to often make the men less then or evil villian. It's an extreme and clumsy approach that takes me out of the action and often fails to entertain.
And don't even get me started on the destruction of heroic male characters in franchises just for the excuse of a gender swap.
Is it possible to elevate one group without sacrificing another? I think so. I'm hoping that this is a passing trend and will result in more balance. I can't be the only female that enjoys men sometimes on top.
The only thing that really made me like Lady Gaga less was when she made the comment that she was nothing like her character from A Star is Born. I thought that was a shame since I found her character far more likable than the image Gaga conveys.
But in the end who cares. Most celebrities are predictable and not really that interesting.
I know nothing about DM beyond the Bud Lite fiasco. It seemed a bad fit. But it's over.
For older tv worth watching I favor:
La Femme Nikita
Third Watch
Northern Exposure
The Killing
Maybe not so popular but .....Roman Polanski.
At that point he'd already been held....what....5 years? He was desperate to escape, I guess, and couldn't see any other way.
Did I think it was a good idea? No, but he has always lived on the edge and at that point felt he'd lost everything.
It fits Rick. He can get pretty whacked. He can be extreme.
I can't remember them all but I will occasionally watch a film with a 4 something rating. Just the other day I watched "Don't Blink" because I like trippy movies more than gory ones.
Generally speaking I allow a lower rating on films than series. I usually avoid series lower than 7 something. The series tend to be more accurate as to quality.
Well, this is long after the original post but I think she suffered from the hypocrisy of that era.
People in modern times don't really appreciate how repressed women prior to the 60's and especially would have in the 20's and 30's when the film was based. Females could be ostrisized with the wrong behavior and felt forced to live in a bubble.... and an out of wedlock pregnancy could ruin their entire lives.
Men often had a madonna/whore impression of women from their upbringings and, out of respect, would cheat with the bad girls. Women had few choices and all the double standards were easily enough to tip a teenager over the edge.
In the film there was also the divide between rich and poor. Buds father would never have allowed him to marry outside his class. By the end little of that mattered anymore but their time had passed. It couldn't be recaptured.
