no matter:
the soviet union, which tried everything to get there first, monitored all radar tracking, optical/telescopic tracking, and even timed the radio response delay times (roughly 1/3 of a second from the moon to the earth and vice versa).
if any entity had a reason to disprove the US accomplishments at the time, the USSR was it... and they could not do so.
for once, "pravda" had to tell the truth.
