A crashed derelict alien space ship, almost biomechanical looking in nature with dead pilots, carrying deadly cargo that could wipe out all life on a planets?

In a frozen wasteland? It's a little like "At the Mountains of Madness" by HP Lovecraft (loosely remade as the Thing and as Prometheus).
