Just alright.

- Well acted by all involved. Great performances across the board.
- Good production values.
- A few twists and turns.
- Only a few tense moments. Not much in the way of scares. A very tame horror film. A satirical thriller is probably a more accurate description.
- Mildly amusing for 100 minutes without ever breaching into actually funny/hilarious territory.
- The whole satire and mockery of 'foodie culture' is the main course of this film, if that doesn't resonate with you the film has the potential to fall flat.

Worth a one time watch but not a film I see myself revisiting. I wouldn't rush out and pay for it.

6.5/10

Disclaimer: I have a poor sense of humor. If you have a funny bone and laugh at everything you may enjoy this a lot more than I did.

Pretty much agree with all of that. Yeah, it's kind of an uncategorizable movie, which explains why the trailers were so random. Satirical thriller is a good way to put it. I actually laughed quite a bit throughout the movie, but it's not as though it's a full-on horror or comedy. Hell, I'm not even sure if manages to be the full-on satire that it's intending to be.

I liked it a bit more than you did, but I think that's probably just cause I found it more amusing, as you're predicting. Don't think it's a particularly deep film. I mainly enjoy it because it's filmed so well, and I find the cast of supporting characters entertaining (I laughed heartily when Hoult was making his dish.)

Not really any twists, but the climax did catch me off guard, thoughlooking back, it was pretty clear that the Chef and his staff are basically a cult. Actually, maybe that IS the point it's making about foodie culture now when I think about it.
