My thoughts

The movie isn’t a masterpiece, obviously. The basic concept, involving some kind of haunted pool, is just silly. And the movie isn’t scary. They use CGI to show some sort of monster in the pool (the monster grabs people and stuff). The monster just looks like cartoonish, like a Power Rangers villain or something. The ending doesn’t capture the emotional force that the writers might’ve been aiming for. The father gives up his life to save his son, which should have touched our hearts. But since the movie barely explores the pool’s backstory (where a family gives up one family member to save another), the father’s sacrifice falls flat

I did like the actors and characters, who come across as likeable. I also found the scene the mother visits the previous owner to be the one A+ portion of the movie: had the movie leaned more in that direction, then we might’ve had something very good here
