Delayed a whole year to May 2025 (plus dropping "Part 2" title?)

Paramount and Skydance have pushed back the film back to May 23, 2025, off its previous date of June 28, 2024.

Title change?

Another interesting angle on this is that Paramount is apparently dropping "Dead Reckoning Part 2" from the title, which is probably smart. Unless you're "Harry Potter" it's really tough to get people invested in what they think is half the story, which may account for some of the low box office totals for "Dead Reckoning Part 1."

If I were a betting man, I'd say in future home video and streaming releases we'll just be seeing the last one called "Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning" minus the "Part 1."

That's dumb as hell to push it back further. I'm ready to watch it NOW!!! This will do less than part 1 b/c most folks would forget what happened!!

Interesting they're dropping the 'Part 2'.

"Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One grossed $172.1M domestic, $567.5M WW this past summer. That’s a lot of money to remove from the 2024 box office, but such is the nature of the business right now. Mission: Impossible 8 will get a three-week run in Imax and will be filmed with Imax digital cameras for the Imax format. Do you hear that loud and clear, Christopher Nolan and Universal? Left on June 28 next year is New Line’s Kevin Costner movie, Horizon: An American Saga Chapter One and Sony’s Horrorscope. On Mission: Impossible 8‘s new weekend in 2025, there’s currently an untitled Disney film."

Nice subtle Jab at Nolan and Universal for this past summer with Dead Reckoning getting screwed out of IMAX in favor of a movie that didn't really need IMAX in OPPENHEIMER.. Mission: IMPOSSIBLE could've benefitted greatly from watching that in IMAX.. Even Barbie didn't need IMAX for heaven's sake!!

So dropping the "Part 2" is going to make it look like it's repeating last summer, minus Barbenheimer and it'll probably do better than it did

He should've just made this one movie, 3 hours long and been done with it because is anyone going to honestly remember Part 1 a year from now??
