I disagree. i saw the movie yesterday at the theater and I liked it. It was pretty scary and not gory or anything. Just a simple good plot.
William Sadler though he's getting pretty old. I almost mistook him for that one actor from Dr Quinn
It had potential but it ended up as lazy writing and didn't really get too much into Catholic mysticism or demonology.
The fact that the Church was clearly not a Catholic Church was also quite off putting.
And what was with the priest catching fire and they just leave and don't think 'maybe we should get a fire extinguisher and make sure the Church doesn't burn down.'
Starts out strong and has a good cast, but loses momentum by the 2nd act and the 3rd act was almost bad.
The whole 'evil entity moves in jerky motion with bone cracking sounds' has been done to death now and needs to stop.
Won't be re-watching, but will give it a generous 5.5 / 10.
