Typical woke setup: whites = bad, blacks = good
Yawn...the trailer showed this movie's woke hand. Of course the black couple are the good ones treating the girl well and the whites are evil. What a joke.

shareSo there can never be a movie where black people are good and white people are bad?
I mean, I could understand if every single black person that appeared in the movie was good and every single white person was bad, but if we're only talking about 3 people, I don't see an issue.
There's no issue, just seems to be a strong trend.
Rarely we see a black guy be bad in a movie, and when he is there is usually a black guy also involved that is good, just to make sure we're not "demonizing" the blacks.
I can think of plenty recent movies where the bad guys are black. If you need me to name them, I will. white people tend to be the villain a lot, this isn't really a new trend. this movie seems anything but "woke" because what I saw from the trailer, the one person that's kindest to her is a white man who is her romantic interest.
shareThat's true. It's my theory discrimination will be over when black people can play bad guys in movies and TV.
However, Tate was nice to her and the lawyer was good to her. Chase was an ass but I didn't trust him anyway. Jody was good. Jumpin and his wife could be considered tokens I guess.
But that's every movie today, so yeah, it's not a good thing.
shareWhite girl (Kya) is befriended by kindly back couple.
Woke?
I think not.
Thanks! I won't be watching this now.
shareThere were plenty of good white people in the movie, idiot. Watch something before you critique it.
shareMovie is set in an era where black people were outcasts. As the protagonist was also an outcast, it's logical that they became friends.
