Simu Liu is incredibly unlikable.

In addition to some other stuff he's said, he recently bumped this:

"positive iterations of Asian masculinity and femininity"

For starters, who the fuck speaks like this? He's a snobby little fucker. Totally consumed with being Asian too. It's fucking weird and obsessive.

reply

I like him and I suspect a lot of other people do too.

reply

Oh, the irony. He's literally saying don't put each other down and yet here you are.

reply

"He's literally saying don't put each other down"

Like the time he trashed a Disney exec because he COMPLETELY misunderstood what he said?

"Liu wasn't thrilled with Chapek's characterization and tweeted, "We are not an experiment."

"We are the underdog; the underestimated. We are the ceiling-breakers," the actor wrote in response on Saturday. "We are the celebration of culture and joy that will persevere after an embattled year. We are the surprise. I’m fired the (expletive) up to make history on September 3rd; JOIN US."

Or the time he compared being gay to being a pedophile?

What about the time he said there were too many white people on his TV show?

Fuck. Him.

reply

Jesus, you really have a grudge against this dude, which you're entitled to have. But nothing here suggests that he deserves it.

Someone called Shang-Chi an experiment, he disagreed. His comparison of homosexuality to pedophilia, while perhaps misguided, was inoffensive. The points he made about the show he worked on for years are valid.

reply

Oh look, more racism from him:

“I love and am proud of Nicole, and I want the show to succeed for her… but I remain resentful of all of the circumstances that led to the one non-Asian character getting her own show,” he wrote on Facebook. “And not that they would ever ask, but I will adamantly refuse to reprise my role in any capacity.”

But sure, "nothing".

reply

Your definition of racism and mine differ.

reply

He does come across as believing his entire personality and identity come down to "being Chinese", and at the same time, having a massive chip on his shoulder about it.

reply

Every time I hear him speak publicly, it's "I'm Chinese!"

reply

He's a product of a society that is obsessed with race and box ticking.

reply

You're not wrong.

reply

So small hoss?

reply

I agree, I have seen him in interviews, and he has a smirking arrogance about him.
