It took everything I loved about Into The Spider-Verse and made it even better. The comedy was just as hilarious, the pacing, even in it's 140 minute length, is still good, and the animation is even more stunning (the chase/train sequence included), and the music score is even better. The villain Miguel O'Hara, who made a cameo at the post credit of the last film, got more depth as a tragic character with a good motivation that makes you understand where he's coming from. Even the Canon Events scene which adds to the Spider Man lore. Plus Miles realizing that in the future, the Spot kills his father and is willing to do whatever he can to save him (considering he lost Uncle Aaron) adds further depth to the character. And that cliffhanger... totally shocking and a nice way to set up the third and final movie (which unfortunately got removed from it's March 2024 release date in recent news).

Across the Spider-Verse doesn't rate with me at all. I couldn't feel more opposite than you. For me, it distilled the worst parts of the first film, and stretched them into an overly long, meandering film. If you want to see an animated hero film done right, I'd say check out the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. I liked that better than even the first Spider-Verse film, which I fully enjoyed.

I saw TMNT: Mutant Mayhem yesterday and thought it was a fun film. The animation was just as good as Across the Spider Verse, although some of the humor was REALLY dumb.

It hit perfectly for me. The angst and loneliness of the four teens, and their bond/closeness to one another, was more real than anything I've seen in an animated film before. I really felt for those cartoon turtles!

Also, and this may be a generational thing-- I'm Gen-X-- but the music was just perfect. De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, and all the other songs were the soundtrack to the Gen-X high school years, and Ice Cube referencing Ice T (6 in tha mornin' police at my door) brought the house down from the Gen-X'ers in attendance.

I liked the soundtrack too. Especially The Rest Is Still Unwritten which felt nostalgic for me. I liked some of the humor since I'm a sucker for silly humor, although the milking joke was used 6 times throughout the majority of the film which felt weird and repetitive to me.

Yeah. However, I was skeptical at first because Seth Rogen was one of the executive producers of the film considering other people hate him mostly because he's known for making juvenile dumb humor.

He's hit or miss for me; mostly miss. Superbad is an all-time classic film as far as I'm concerned, and The Interview is another standout film, but most everything else he's done has been mediocre. The Green Hornet was slightly above average. However, with this one, he hit the mark for me.

I can see that. I remember when I was a teenager, I enjoyed Seth Rogen since he had some good humor especially his voicework as B.O.B. from Monsters VS Aliens and Mantis from the KFP franchise, but yeah his shtick outstayed his welcome later on which is why I usually prefer other comedic actors.

It will probably get a Best Picture nomination.

If Into the Spider-verse didn't get Best Picture Nod. Then i doubt this will. At best it get Best Animated Feature like last time.

Frankly i think GOTG 3 and Super Mario were both Better. This movie wasn't even better than Into the Spider-verse. It was longer and more convoluted. I found nothing outstanding about it at all. It dosn't even feel like a Superhero movie.
