Cancelled = No Ending?

This series was apparently cancelled. Does that mean there is no ending and/or a cliffhanger at the end of season 1? It's always hard to find things out like this on the net without spoilers

As you are aware that it was cancelled (still hoping it gets resurrected elsewhere!) I don't suppose it's spoiling anything to say it was set up to continue.

Therefore, just from that, you could take it that it didn't have a firm ending. However, having said that, the story laid out for season 1 itself did - to an extent - come to its conclusion...

Probably as helpful as I could be without outright spoiling.

Like Raised by Wolves and Westworld it was cancelled before the end.

Did Westworld also have no ending? Because I was just about to start watching that too.

It went to 4 seasons with 5 planned. I'd watch up to 3 and consider that the ending.

There is another series by the same writers as 1899 that has three seasons and a proper conclusive ending.
