Chadwick Boseman will NOT be Recast

But they will instead honor his memory and character.
In fairness though, I’m fine with no recasting, but Black Panther is a comic book character which is very different to other characters that had to be “retired” due to an actors death like Brian O’Conner, (Paul Walker) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) who were original characters from the very start.
But I could see a side-character from the first movie take the mantle like Shuri (likely, despite Letitia Wright’s most recent controversy) or M’Baku.

So Chadwick Boseman was not a trained actor merely playing a character? He was a fine actor in my opinion and I think it does him a disservice retiring a role he played due to his untimely death.

He should be viewed by his body of work, not just one character he played.

reply

I would love for it to be M'Baku! But I have a feeling it will be Shuri.

reply

I think they could go with Bucky. With the Falcon getting the Captain America moniker from Steve Rogers, Bucky is still available, and he has a history in Wakanda.

reply

Oh yeah, Blacks will "love" a white guy taking over this role

reply

It happens in reverse all the time, I can't imagine them having a problem with it.

reply

It does happen in reverse all the time and Bucky did get skipped over for Cap. Fuck it I hope they do it

reply

I wasn't being sarcastic about it happening all the time. However, I WAS being very sarcastic about blacks being fine with it,lol.

reply

But we did just get a black Captain America, though. Even though we didn't even need any "new" Captain America.

reply

Someone needed to be Cap. They aren't going to just let the property die.

reply

You are talking about business reasons, but I was saying about logical in-movie reasons.

reply

Fans are already petitioning to have Boseman replaced. I guess we'll see how that goes.

reply

The should just recast the character. Good actors can replace each other.

reply

Marvel has already recast Bruce Banner within the MCU, no reason they shouldn't...but they won't.

reply

They also recast War Machine, one of Thor's friends, and Howard Stark (several times). The latter characters may have been minor characters in the grand scheme of the MCU, but War Machine is pretty much a staple character now. As we've said already: recasting is not new to the MCU, from major characters to minor characters, so recasting T’Challa shouldn’t be a big deal, he’s too cool of a character to retire after only one solo movie and a few crossover roles.

reply

They could recast with that Michael B. Jordan Killmonger dude. His clone or whatever. Everybody happy.

reply

That makes no sense. They should just recast the character. I don't think "retiring" Black Panther is doing a service to the legacy of Chadwick & certainly not the character. Simply giving the series a break in order to allow a grace period before recasting the character would probably be the better way to go. I think it would be better to have no Black Panther movies at rather than forcing it & having to come up with contrived reasons why the main character isn't in it.
