P's parents.. when he says.... ( SPOILING)

He lost them too and they were " KILLED IN A FIRE" -- I am presuming they decided to sacrifice themselves one year and that's how he was orphaned?

Or was that stuff every 90 years? Apologies for looking like a moron if so .. but after my viewing AND looking at some threads here.. I am still in some ways hella confused of what is every year and what is every 90 years.

( But thank GOD someone here pointed out the SKIN THE FOOL and the person who killed Josh had made Mark's face into a mask-- was SO SO SO lost about that )

You must be freaking right!

I am sure his parents sacrificed themselves when he was little. That's how he got so fucked up.
He is a sick dude that makes you think, he is just a calm, nice and relaxed guy.
When he talks to Dani about Christian maybe not being the right one for her, I thouhgt he only had good intentions!
But no way, he wanted them to break off on porpuse!

He killed his friends!

Much like Hereditary, the apparently friendly comfort blanket is the best part of the film. Here it was Pelle, in Hered it was Joan - both appear as an angel to the grieving protagonist, only to reveal themselves as throughly evil cult members, rather like the friendly neighbours in Rosemary’s Baby.

There’s something especially chilling about that level of human evil. Pelle’s amiable, sensitive, ultra laid back demeanour is endearing at first, but on reflection makes you want to puke.

Aster has scored two home runs, but they’re rather similar and both quite derivative of existing classic horrors. I hope he can carve out something more original next time.

"I hope he can carve out something more original next time."
Try his first 2011 short feature, "The Strange Thing About the Johnsons" then report back if you still think he's never tried something so-dangerously-original-it's-practically-suicide before.

I've watched this film like twenty times and I'm still not sure what the chronological frequency of the festival is.
