A sign of our times that one can make fun of White Swedish culture
but if this film had been set in Africa and been about a remote African tribe that did bizarre and unsalvoury things - the PC crowd would be up in arms.

shareShows you what kind of hypocrites the PC crowd are.
shareEXACTLY!!!!!!!
sharewhere does this movie make fun of "white" swedish culture? its an american movie which is usually and typically ignorant of an other culture other than their own.
shareYou're right, but OP isn't completely wrong, he just worded it badly. To me, it's interesting what the psychological reaction of modern urban Americans is to seeing a group of white people in folklore dresses doing stuff together. I'm from east europe and that stuff is celebrated here so everybody's reaction is like "so beautiful", but seeing trailer comments on social media about this movie, it makes me realize that such a thing is automatically creepy to a lot of people in the west. Probably due to history of racism and KKK.
sharegood point, americans seems to be super sensitive about the color of the skin. they only accept black people as slaves it seems. anything else is considered offensive or threatening
shareI think that if Jordan Peele were to make a movie like that it wouldn't be an issue. Midsommer isn't really an issue as Ari Aster is white, so it's in the correct wheelhouse whether it is his heritage or not.
shareYou see, this is why I think categorizing people by their pigmentation is stupid. The idea that New York Jew Ari, Louisiana redneck Cletus, Russian Tartar Yuri, Swede called Bjorn and Crocodile Dundee all share the same culture and heritage.
shareYou've obviously never seen "Top Secret"
Sweden aint a white country no more. i went there back in 2003 in the good ol days now it is a completely different place
