good, but CF and JT-S didn't work well here. Also, the attempts at being artsy are clunky in too many spots. It needed more Yang, and a better performance from the husband and wife to assist the narrative in driving the themes home. The little girl is good, though.

Yep. And monotonic like a straight line. It is not bad but it doesn't excel at anything either. It fails to be captivating.
