This got

worse and worse and worse. It started off with such a serious and more grounded vibe but deteriorated in full steps after each dumbed down episode.

It's basically a by-the-numbers, trope-filled, horror-monster movie attempting to convince us that it's a peak tv-series with a story worthy of 10 hours. Maybe even less than a movie since a single episode of Kolchak might've been able to cover the same ground without taking itself so seriously.

That is the typical response...the 1st two episodes with Bateman were grounded and serious. Really exciting.
Then with each following episode the series grew dry, and stretched out.

"worse and worse and worse" is exactly right.
The show started out great! About the 4th episode in, it just went straight downhill each episode. It took me a few weeks to watch the last episode because I had lost interest. I finally watched it, and it turns out to be just as bad as than the previous ones.

What a disappointment.
