Named Obi when your surname is Kenobi?
That is a mean choice by his parents.
Luke Lucas certainly has a great taste with names.

Luke Lucas certainly has a great taste with names.
You should have seen some of the names he had in the first draft of the original Star Wars:
Darth Badguy
Princess Fukmi
Hansum Singledood
Lando Blakfulks
And so on…
Hans So.full
Princess Layme
Jerk Jerk is the best.
Pad me.
Darth Father (spoiler ahead)
Lucas Spacehero
Lol Lucas Spacehero. Good ole Georgie envisioned himself in the Luke, hero of the galaxy role as he formulated Star Wars in his mind - going on adventures, fighting the bad guys, and saving the damsels as a handsome strapping youth instead of the pudgy dork of reality lol.
shareThat is all correct, except for one thing. When he was young Georgie boy was not as pudgy, he was almost good looking and I think he had a normal chin/neck.
But yeah, he had an accident so he came up with the force, and envisioned himself as Luke.
I always assumed that a lot gets lost in translation as the common tongue of Star Wars is translated to English. Star Wars names probably make a lot more sense in whatever goofy language they were using.
shareI never assumed they spoke anything oter than English.
That would be the day, if they actually had a language that made sense instead of this crap that is not even readable.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. These guys ain't speaking English and we can barely understand our own tongue a hundred years ago. These are delightful movies and shows and books for our amusement. And obviously just art. But if taken as real in any sort of context. Language must be considered. Obi-Wan probably sounds like Biff Tar Blok! KoiKoi! Shanublum!
shareBiff Tar Blok would be a kickass name for him.
shareLed to that famous country/western song; "I"m Proud to be Old Obi Wan Kenobi."
(See Hardware Wars)
Never noticed it before. Obi is his name and last part of his surname. lol
