Most people usually have a pack or two of cigarettes. Since they were there for more than 3 months, was Jesse Eisenberg's character smoking cigarettes provided in the supply box? I didn't see cigarrets in there.
It would partially explain the advancement of his coughing outside of the dust from the hole.
