What do we have here folks?
Are these smart space faring creatures who have figured out cross dimensional travel? They also wiped out most major cities in a few days it seems with what seems to be a well orchestrated attack.
Or they dumb as shit and somehow hitched a ride on a massive meteor and crashed into earth, somehow surviving and managing to take over the planet despite being blind and unable to swim.
Blind, easy to kill, no swimming … hmmm
As to smart or dumb: probably on an alien ship as zoo animals that they somehow overrun killing the crew and crash into earth atmosphere …
But surely smarter than 90% of the characters in the movie, no wonder they wiped humanity with ease ..
This is why I don't watch shows labelled Sci-Fi unless the science is plausible. Usually can tell from the reviews.
If stupid monsters came from hell or Wuhan that would be far more believable than another planet.

shareI like this answer, and it would honestly be a great end twist to the 3rd (and hopefully final) movie. Not that I dislike these movies. Quite the contrary actually. I just don't want this to become another long running, played out series.

Nah... I'd rather it seem like we have finally won over the alien "drones" near the end of the movie, only for an even higher power to show up which signals doom for the remaining survivors. We wouldn't have the capacity to fight a greater, well equipped alien species by this point anyways.

shareIn this scenario, we're considering that the current aliens we know are nothing more than near-indestructible bioweapons that get hurled onto a planet as a first means of attack to thin out our numbers and leave us disorganized.
The appearance of a higher power would mean that we no longer know what their weakness is. Their bioweapon, weak to high frequency sound, are just zoo animals to them. A completely different species, perhaps not even something biologically engineered, but are just some other alien lifeform they discovered on another planet, and decided to start utilizing them as weapons due to their durability.
My take on this is that the creatures are drones, genetically engineered by an alien race to clear planets of any indigenous life. Clearing the way for colonisation.
