Why would a math genius be broke after 42 years?
Seems like Jerry and Marge spend too much and went to large to much.
shareSeems like Jerry and Marge spend too much and went to large to much.
shareyeah, seemed a little weird that they barely had any life savings once he retired
shareyeah, that was weird.
he lived in small town, had low taxes. I assume he lived in the same house all those years and paid it off. did he not calculate how to save money? sometimes I have found that even smart people can be dumb. we just have a saying for this guy I worked with.
"he was the smartest dumb person ever"
Why would a chemistry genius have to teach geography/cook meth? Life sucks.
sharehe didnt, he just accepted teaching as his fate. he didnt put in any effort into getting a new job as well. Walt cooked meth just to make a lot of money in a short amount time because he thought he had months to live.
shareWho was doing meth? The kid?
shareHe had to pay to put 2 kids through college. That is expensive.
shareThe writers tried to sell the premise by having the accountant mention that while they weren’t broke, Jerry and Marge were too conservative with their nest egg investment. I recall the accountant saying they were only getting a 2% return because they were not invested in the stock market. That explains why they were worried about money. But the contrivance just gets back to your question. Why wouldn’t a genius with numbers and probability formulas not have played the market better over 42 years of reliable Kellogg’s income?
