Will there be any fallout from the Gina Carano firing?

This is question is more in regards to Disney but will anything change for them in regards to the PR nightmare they have on their hands from what happened to Gina Carano. I grew up watching many Disney movies but now I hate their brand along with politics that are often associated with them. Will anything change or should I just assume Disney will continue to hate half the country for what they believe is wrong think?

Money talks, if they see a sizable enough dent in their profits then we might see course correction. Until then I guess it's business as usual.

reply

I doubt it.
If this was true, woke stuff would never have happened to begin with. Why lose 50% of the audience to please 2% that comprises of non-binary gender fluid peeps?

A long as this crap is profitable, they'll hold the course.
Speaking of money, have you seen space sweepers? That 2 hour film with a ton of sfx cost only 20 million dollars. I suspect that most of the films/series made in the hollywood are nothing more but a money laundering operation. The actual cost of making those films is way lower than what is being reported - that also means that recovering the production costs is a lot easier than most of us have thought. So, it's not surprising to see a number of films flop on paper, only to get a sequel not long after.

reply

Have you seen the supposed budget for "Jack & Jill"? No way in hell it cost what they claim it did.

reply

No. The media is CONTROLLED and that is where the fallout would come from.

So,

NO.

reply

No. Democrats are never wrong and Republicans are now more than ever.

If I'm being honest though, she wasn't a very good actress.

reply

Her acting skills are mediocre but she has charisma, has a fun personality off-screen, and with her build and MMA background she's one of the few women who can believably engage men in fight scenes.

I always make a point to watch her films, even when I know the movie is going to be shit. I've seen almost her entire filmography at this point. Think I still have two titles to go.

reply

I do give her credit for being convincing as a badass. If you ask most Hollywood actresses to play a badass bounty hunter they'll starve themselves down to 90 pounds and come up with a costume that includes a bare abdomen and high heels, but Carano played Dune as a big bull of a gal who didn't give a shit how she looked. You could believe she'd punch through the walls of your house if you pissed her off, and then give you a few extra stomps for making her knuckles bleed!

That said, the character wasn't very interesting, and can be written out any time.

reply

Yeah, she's not trying to be a beauty queen. I'm not sure if you ever followed her MMA career, but when she was a pro fighter she fought at 145 lbs and she always had a hard time making weight. In fact, she often missed weight and came in over the limit. It's clear now that she just doesn't give a fuck and is just letting her body do what it wants to do.

As for the character, I'd say that, for me at least, it was Gina who made the character interesting. I'll agree that the character is not super-interesting on the page. And now they've fired her.

reply

I like the character, I don't love her or anything but she's fun and believable, and Carano is someone I kind of like in some ways. I mean she's got her good points, like she's her butch self instead of another cookie-cutter actress, and she doesn't give a shit what people think.

But she's posted anti-mask and anti-vaccine shit on her social media, so she's DEAD TO ME. I've seen what COVID can do, and it can be horrible. If anyone took her seriously she could get people killed with this idiocy.

reply

Well the vaccine has been rushed, so I can understand why people would be cautious and not be one of the early-adopter guinea pigs.

As for masks, it's whatever to me. There is no hard data that shows exactly how effective masks really are. Literally, no one knows. In the beginning, we were told that masks will actually make the problem WORSE and not to wear them. Now that asshole Fauci is saying that one mask might not be enough and that we really need to be wearing two masks (LOL).

What I do know is this: We can't go on like this forever. If the vaccine doesn't get this virus under control, then it's time to just recognize that life is not without risk and to get back to our regular comings and goings.

reply

What I used to like about her personality - the shyness, humility, quiet politeness - is gone. She says some insanely stupid shit. I'm not normally one of those people who can't like someone who has different views, but I draw the line at the conspiracy theory nonsense.

reply

Oh come on now, the whole "conspiracy theory nonsense" was her sharing a few memes. Let's put things into perspective here. She's hardly saying "There needs to be unrest in the street for as long as there's unrest in our lives" in the middle of nationwide riots, or other such crazy nonsense.

reply

Probably nothing significant for the show itself. While I think its bullshit that she was fired, I doubt Favreau or Filoni had anything to do with it. And I also have no doubt they'll still make a great show despite the setback. At the end of the day, if the show is good, I'll watch it.

As for Disney+? They'll take a momentary hit, but I doubt it will break them.

If Carano wasn't already wealthy she wouldn't have said shit.

This will effect absolute zero.
