Basically the Lone Ranger but in the SW universe

It's getting old really fast as the stories were told so often before. But of course there's always new people to tell them to.

A character like the Lone Ranger or Zorro fights for justice, and protects the innocent. Bounty hunters aren't exactly like that. A lot of the targets they're going after are criminals, sure, but not all of them. Mandalorians appear to have an honor code but it doesn't revolve around being do-gooders. The Knights of the Round Table they are not.

Any number of gunslinging westerns feature protagonists similar to the unnamed Mandalorian of this show. To some extent they're clearly going for the western in space vibe. But the fact that it's in the Star Wars universe also means you've got plot threads - Baby Yoda for example - which are not typical of that genre.

Disney seems to be going the good guy/hero route with this show though. First he saves Baby Yoda, and now a small village. He did have his own reasons of course, but he clearly has a conscience.

Oh they're not sociopaths. In fact we know the Mandalorians take in orphans who aren't related to any of them by blood, kids they have no obligation to care for. A tradition he's carrying on with the little green guy. I'm sure he felt like he'd dishonored himself by delivering the baby in the first place and rescued him to set things right. Something his clan, if they knew about it (which they may have) probably approved of.

But he went to the village in episode 4 mostly because he needed a place in the middle of nowhere to lie low more than he needed money. Like the traveling gunfighter character who's wanted by the law but helps the townfolk fight back against the railroad, or the local boss guy, he's motivated by self-interest but also has a heart. And even though the girl wants him to stay at the end it's time to hit the trail. Well that, plus the army of bounty hunters that are just going to keep coming if he sticks around.

Obviously he needs to find out who's behind the bounty and deal with them. I imagine the client's death probably cancels the contract.

Episode 1-4 is basically The Magnificent Seven/Seven Samurai storyline, except there are only two professional gunfighters.

You are not wrong but it's still better than (sadly already) most Star Wars movies.

I am watching the Mandalorian so it does have something. As long as it's free, right?

The Lone Ranger was a cop who got attacked and left for dead. An Indian found him and nursed him back to health. They became crime fighters.

Where is the similarity??
