Curtis accused of 'stealing' Yesterday

reply

too long to read, can you break it down for us?

reply

Basically he took a script of Yesterday that was written by some 62 year old guy and 'Richard Curtisd' it and then said in interviews promo stuff that hed written the whole script from a one line idea .. now the writer is moaning about it and Curtis is getting cancelled on twitter for taking credit and also ruining the original script (that obviously didn't have the Richard Curtis type love element)

reply

Hmmmm...

Sounds like a lawsuit in the making. But it won't effect my thoughts on the movie. I still like it...

reply

also, is it funny that he did what the character did in this movie? lol...

reply

😄

You might wanna read your own link.

"If Barth’s concept sounds vaguely familiar, it’s because his script, Cover Version, was acquired by Working Title Films and eventually became Yesterday"

reply

Yeah, he's a credited writer on the film, so what exactly is Barth suing over?

reply

i thought of this idea when I was in gradeschool. Probably the lamest idea you could base a movie on.

reply

Its certainly up there.
"The Purge" is one that comes to mind for me - an absolutely inane concept put to film purely as an excuse to show violence, similarly: "Saw"
