The lead actress was amazing.

I don't believe I've ever seen her in anything, but she was the best actor in the film. They were all good, but she really stood out.

reply

Yeah, she was great.

reply

She was good, yes.

I didn't like her in that part where she was a movie critic, though. Not convincing.

reply

That part seemed out of place in general.

reply

She was channeling the critic Pauline Kael. One of Kael's books is in Jake's childhood bedroom.

reply

I don't think it was meant to be convincing. A big part of Kaufman's work revolves around pointing out the artificiality of movies

Not sure exactly what he was going for with that scene. He might have been making fun of the way LA intellectuals discuss movies like his. Or maybe something else, but I think it was designed to stand out as unrealistic

reply

Not only that but the way she delivered it was supposed to tip you off that she was somehow reciting something he'd read. It should feel jarring and out of place, the way she switches between clueless about certain things one moment then seemingly an expert moments later.

reply

She's really good in Wild Rose as well.

reply

she was horrible overacting with that fake raspy voice

reply

She was in Beast, another good movie.

I think i remember her from The Breakfast Club.

reply

Nice panties.

reply

Um...she wasn’t even born, much less a high schooler in ‘85.

reply

Your e thinking of Molly ringwold. I can see what you mean.

reply

Thanks, but no, I was referencing Ally Sheedy in The Breakfast Club.

reply

Try watching, the beast with her in it. Very good.
