Really?

Okay when will Disney stop? When the simple mention of the title "Star Wars" will irritate people? Until then they will feed us with these not so necessary sequels and unnecessary spin-offs/side stories?

Yeah, I know, "I don't have to watch it if I don't want". I'm aware, don't worry I probably won't watch it neither. I tried watching Solo and 10 minutes in I was already suffering starting by this cringe worthy explanation of why we call him Han Solo. I didn't make it halfway through.

My problem with this: by paying for this autopilot way to produce an excessive amount of movies which don't have any originality anymore, we support Hollywood to invest more in these unoriginal ideas rather than supporting talented filmmakers who could make some outstanding movies. Furthermore, It's not just the lack of originality. It's also about how much of a lazy writing this is. This is totally not creative at all. It's just reusing the same concept and insert new elements that used all its innovative power a long time ago.

I might not care for the prequel trilogy too much. But at least it did have something fresh, something different. Now it feels like Disney simply follows the political agenda and work hard to milk this cow until it's totally drained.

I know, my opinion doesn't matter and this movie will probably become a success or at least break even. And it's okay, we need this kind of pop-corn entertainment. But even brainless and objectively bad action movies like Rambo II can still offer some substantial fun. In this case, starting from Rogue One, I just don't have the feeling that any effort is put in creating something. I'm not talking about writing a new Citizen Kane, but at least make me feel that there's a minimum amount of passion put in it.

Disney is no longer a creative studio which is looking for good filmmaking and good storytelling. No, it's nothing more than a huge corporation which have ONE goal: money! Yes, this can apply for pretty much any studio... but I feel like Disney is the ultimate champion. Just look at how overly expensive their DVDs and Blu-rays are compared to other studios. And I don't mean to talk about the new releases here. I'm referring to cartoons that are almost 100 fucking years old.

Bottom line: I know this will not stop and I will simply keep avoiding to pay for the movies they release (with the exception of what is made by Pixar) and people will keep on wasting their money and then come here to complain about how bad it was.

This has a $500 budget. It seems to be a fan movie.

With that budget, it's highly likely it will break even. Even without the usual fake box office from Disney LOL

reply

Lucas Film/ Disney has nothing to do with this.

reply

You are freaking out over a fan film.
Maybe you should go get a cup of coffee. Decaf.

reply

But that's the thing. Star Wars has got to the point that you can't tell the difference if its real or a fanfic.

reply

That's a good point.

reply

No it isn't. It's gotten to the point that a lot of guys with pine cones up their butts have time to post things on the internet.

reply

Well there's nothing particularly profound about that. George Lucas sold out / isn't behind the stories so it's all effectively fan fiction now. It can't be anything else.

reply

Yeah, could it be possible that MAYBE I wasn't aware it was a fan film?

I think you are the one who needs de chill out.

reply

lol at how mad you got.

reply

Totally agree.
I haven't put a dime on this crap and many others in the past 10 years, but it didn't stop them from makin it. Most people don't understand much, don't give any importance to movies anyway and just like their fast food fill and move on to the next one.
What can you do?

reply

REALLY...REALLY?????....you didn't take the time to see that this was made in 2018?????..Come on dude it's obvious it was a fan film. You ranted for nothing...dummy....lmao...

reply

"you didn't take the time to see that this was made in 2018?????"

Yes, indeed I had noticed it and thought it was odd. But then again I've seen some mistakes on Imdb so I thought it was possible that Moviechat made a mistake.

reply

Well at least my failed post brought some action to this board.
