This show improved Merlin's character quite nicely
Merlin was a cool mentor in Trollhunters and David Bradley's voicework was spot on, but his manipulation towards Jim, while understandable as it did help him defeat Gunmar in the end of season 3, was also dickish. This show, however, managed to improve the character by showing his softer side especially with his student Douxie (AKA Hisirdoux) and his sacrifice was pretty sad. So kudos to the writers and producers.
