Did she have a dark gritty film planned_ if not i doubt her cut would be much better

Yeah, the movie was already crappy looking even as an 'R' rated film. Most times "alternate cuts" ramp up the content. What did they do? Turn down the violence? Add more drama?

This isn't the kind of film that seems like it would benefit in any way from a director's cut.

Most directors don't have control over the final cut. You have to make a name for yourself before you get that right on a studio film.
