Rings of Power Season One Thoughts - SPOILERS

This show STINKS! It might have been okay if it was a generic fantasy story BUT they slapped the LOTR logo on it and it is set in the second age of Tolkien's Middle-Earth. This show will be studied in future classes on business failures since Amazon bought the rights to the THIRD AGE in order to make a show set in the SECOND AGE.

Over half of the characters in the show are original Amazon creations so this is clearly not Tolkien. Of the twenty-three promotional posters, only TEN characters appear in Tolkien lore.

I was also mildly annoyed that the greatest fighters in this show are women. The women are all girl bosses while the men are mostly incompetent wimps. I can understand Galadriel getting a bump in fighting skills but Bronwyn goes from picking flowers to decapitating orcs.

My other complaint is that the writers turned this into a mystery but there should not have been a mystery over Sauron's identity. It also seems like they are trying to turn Sauron into a nice guy who is a freedom fighter for orcs. This fits into the whole WOKE/SJW narrative that all people are good and they are deserving of endless second chances.

The whole harfoot story was annoying since the writers did not understand that harfoots are a type of hobbit. There was no record of hobbits in the second age but the writers decided to write the story that Tolkien never wrote. The show depicted the harfoots as a mix of gypsies and aboriginals. The harfoots had darker skin from spending more time outdoors and the writers decided to make them multicultural nomads. There was also nothing in Tolkien's writings about the arrival of the wizards in the second age so the writers are again writing a story that Tolkien never wrote.

They also left so many loose ends in the show. They never told us how Adar attempted to kill Sauron. Isildur is still trapped in Mordor with his trusty horse running off to rescue him LOL. We still don't know if the stranger is a blue wizard or Gandalf.
