So the queen made the decision because of tree leaves falling

So she knew sending the elf to the middle earth was a mistake. But sending troops to the middle earth, that might not be the opposite of that. Because again she is sending the elf to the middle earth, this time just more people are going with her.

When the elf was locked up the tree leaves were not falling, so the logic dictates to take the elf back and lock her up again, doesn't it?

In their visions the island was destroyed by huge tidal waves, how could sending troops to the middle earth has anything to do with that?

Not quite sure all the logic of it.

reply

Why doesn't she just glue the leaves back onto the tree ?

reply

It's a magic tree.

reply

Hey this is fabled Numenor, I'm sure they can rustle up some magic glue !

She has a prophecy of a possible future. Her kingdom dies as a consequence of some events triggered by the arrival of an Elf.
Likely that was why Numenor cut all ties with the Elves.

So she is going to war to try to stop that future from happening.

Of course, in a few seasons (if the show makes it that far) she will find out that the trigger wasn't Galadriel but her "friend".

reply

"events triggered by the arrival of an Elf" correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation. Even the friend doesn't seem to have taken actions that could lead to such outcome.

But that was exactly the question: how is going to war going to stop the future from happening?

reply

I didn't say it was well done. It's horribly written just like everything in this show.
I was simply trying to recreate what the writers might have been thinking.

But to answer your question, this is how all politicians think. Lockdowns were useless in fighting COVID, but our leaders needed to appear as if hey knew what they were doing.

Touche.

But the thing is: NO ONE else knows about the vision, just that the petals falling could be a bad omen ... so she somehow must believe it, or something.

But yeah, 100% bad writing ...
