So when she grew up in a literal paradise...

Galadriel was bullied? By other High Elves?! In Valinor?!!!

And why? Just because they can't invent another reason for a woman to strive for excellence other than resentment?

reply

Yep.

I'm having a real problem with the 'new' elves. They are being painted more like men than elves. I always had the impression that elves were 'fair' folk, even having a luminescence about them. We haven't had that in the media version. Even in the LOTR

reply

Sounds like Elves are their Nazis except the black ones and the militant feminists like Galadriel.

reply

The elves actually did some pretty horrible things in the time before Lord of the Rings.

It's a very cheap setup, basically sticking pointy ears on a normal-looking human. At least when they made up the actors who played elves in Peter Jackson's films, they often chose actors and models that were tall, had actual "elfin-looking" faces, and were slender. In this they think sticking pointy ears on any old shmoe will instantly turn them into an "elf."

reply

They made up for that though by giving them really big pointy ears. They kind of look like they might have some elephant DNA in them.

Evidently the only way they can show her as having mental issues and "being strong" is if she survived bullying as a child, even though there was no reason for that to have happened in the elven paradise shown. It seems the dumbass writers of this show really have zero experience when it comes to creative story-telling at all. I would have laughed in their faces and given them both F's if they had shown me this script in college, and then I would have told them to go post it on fanfiction.net, because that's the only place it deserves to be seen.
