Is this an agenda show

I was really looking forward to checking this out until i read the reviews on IMDB.Their mostly good but there's a lot of negative reviews describing it as another SJW propaganda show.If this is just another SJW nonsense show about evil oppressive white privilege then no thanks.Has anyone seen it yet?.

reply

What did you expect from Greg Berlanti? Have you seen the insufferable Supergirl?

reply

I stopped watching Supergirl. It got way too cringe worthy preachy. They should seriously just rename it Super SJW girl.

reply

This show seems to be aimed at feminism and use the main character is stepping out of the norm and trying to uplift women. I don't think they lay it on too thick but I can safely say this Sabrina is a SJW for sure. Spoiler alert: evidentiary support shown when she tries to make a feminist Club for women and/or those that identify as women extremely early in the show.

IMO This show would benefit from more actually focusing on magic mayham. Not necessarily the campy type we remember from the live action show we all watched back in the back.

Also is it just me or does the budget seem low. I expected this show to do better is all....

reply

Ladylove888 in another post you said you were up to episode 3 and you were loving it.
So, is it now going down hill for you?
I have no issues with the budget.

reply

On the last episode now because I like to finish all the shows I start. It was ok but It didnt hold my attention! I think this is one of those shows that you either love or you hate, no in between!

reply

How can it be a show you either love or hate when you just said you only found it "ok"? lol
Anyway, I am on episode 7 and it is starting to lose me to be honest..

reply

SJW?
Social: Is this a bad word? I don't think so.
Justice: Usually connotes good things, "and justice for all," and all that.
Warrior: I suppose there are contexts where Warrior isn't the best thing to be, but generally people associate it with courage and fortitude.
So what's wrong with being a SJW? We live in a world filled with so much hate and manipulation, what's wrong with fighting for social justice?

reply

Are you seriously defending a movement by dissecting its name?

Fascism: Fascio is an Italian word literally meaning "a bundle", symbolizing unity! See, fascists just want us all to hold hands and sing together, hehe!

There's nothing wrong with the concept of social justice itself, but consider that the word "warrior" is being used sarcastically here to describe the insufferable majority of narcissists who pretend to fight for the oppressed by...protesting trivial stuff and censoring social media?

reply

Heard the phrases "intersectional feminism", "white patriarchy", and "misogyny" in the first episode. I shall not be watching the second.

Remember when it was just the patriarchy? Apparently now it's the "white patriarchy". Just keeps getting worse and worse.

reply

Absolutely agreeing with this. Trailer looked like it's gonna be a fun show, but within the first 20 minutes it was all in your face SJW crap. Also, that weird blurry effect gave me headaches. Thus, sadly not returning to this show.

reply

To start with I thought my TV was dying, then I realized they thought blurring the sides of the image was supposed to be some sort of effect... It was very annoying... and yes the SJW BS was over the top... Then of course you have the mandatory diversity with token minorities in roles that make no sense. How exactly do you have two cousins if one is white and one is black? Not talking a meloto, as that would be possible... But here we've got nordic white Sabrina who's ant are also of the uber white race popping having a black cousin... How exactly does that work?

reply

Adoption?

reply

Same than Lost in Space. The diversity craziness is becoming pure nonsense.

reply

I hate SJW shit but these things are not being pushed in the show. They are simply mentioned by kids in the first episode. The fact is a lot of kids nowadays believe in that kind of thing...

You don't need to let it ruin the show for you.
.

reply

While i dont care if its a SJW show, i watched the first episode and it was rather boring. Don't know if i'll keep watching.

reply

I'm on the second episode and IMO gets better...

reply

Well thats good to know, i might give episode 2 a try, thanks.

reply

There is a difference between between propaganda and content with a different point of view than yours, e.g. I wouldn't typically classify a Christian film as propaganda, even though they're not known for their subtlety I would call it a Christian film . I don't know how sensitive you are, it's not about white privilege but if even hearing the word 'feminist' bothers you then, no, this show is not for you.

reply

"There is a difference between between propaganda and content with a different point of view than yours"

I completely agree. That's why i'm asking what type of show it is.Is the SJW aspect of the show handled in a fair smart way or is it obnoxiously heavy handed and preachy like Super girl.

reply

It is obnoxiously heavy handed and preachy, worse than Super Girl.

reply

That's the impression i'm getting.Think i'll skip this one then.

reply

Why would a show like this need a "point of view" at all???

reply

Why not? I don't think it 'needs' to be anything. I don't think it 'needs' to be apolitical or political, liberal or conservative. It can be whatever it wants.

reply

Because it's a show based on a kiddie comic about a teenage witch, not one about social issues. If it does go out of its way to take a point of view, it very much reeks of politics or even propaganda. Are they going to do an episode on the death penalty next week?

reply

If they want to...I don't care. This version is apparently based on the revamped comics, the main writer of the show apparently also wrote the new version of the comics so I guess he would know better if it's faithful to the comics or not.

reply

Maybe you don't care, but other people might. If that's really what the revamp consists of, it's not surprising if fans do complain.

reply

That’s pretty much what it is. The first episode denounces the white patriarchy, addresses transgenderism, and tackles the oppressive nature of tradition... among other issues. I can deal with that given that this almost seems like a prerequisite to get any project off the ground now, but the lead is insufferable. Just not a good actress.

reply

Really?? She is not that bad at all. Pretty decent in fact..

reply

The incel is strong in this thread.

The Dorito musk ... overpowering!

reply

The incel is strong in this thread

And that, kids, it's a perfect example of a self-referent comment.

reply

Ah, "incel"... the new internet buzzword of the day.

reply

That's because you replied.

reply

FFS I was looking forward to this!
