Apparently Dustin Hoffman missed this memo when he portrayed the exact same type of character in RainMan (a severely disabled man on the Autism spectrum) and was nominated for a slew of Oscars for it.
Leonardo DiCaprio also played a tard and got a nomination for it... Cliff Robertson won an Oscar for playing a tard... Once upon a time playing a tard was considered a good way to get an Oscar nomination. When I hear people bitching about a movie about a tard not using a tard I have to wonder if the idiot bitching has ever actually ben around a real life tard. Half the time you can't get them to go to the toilet and not piss themselves so how in the fuck do you think you're going to get them to act on cue or memorize lines? Hell a they can't even read.
I'm sure the producers would love it if they could hire a tard since they would be too stupid to realize how much money they should be negotiating for and the producers could pay them in edible paste.
Takes us back to the classic era of Simple Jack, although between the autistic girl and the haircuts/looks of the other characters it was hard to figure out who was going full retard here
