Why did the dollhouse tip the father off? and was there voodoo going on?

At the end he was at his house and looked into the girls dollhouse and saw the dolls tipped over and laying everywhere, and it seemed to make him go "Holy shit something is seriously wrong i gotta get to my kids". Did i miss something?

And was there some voodoo or something going in this movie? cause the little girl had a doll resembling Grace and earlier in the movie she tipped the doll over on the ice and then Grace fell into the ice and into the water. And at some point Grace finds the doll and hides as if she knew there was voodoo at play. I just didn't get it and it was never really explained what was going on with the doll and if there was voodoo or something going on.

I didn't get the dollhouse either but I thought the doll was supposed to be the mom. I must've missed the ice thing; it ws not a very involving story.

He sees that the children have used the dollhouse, which is, creepily, an exact replica of their mountain lodge, to act out exactly what they plan to do with Grace, down to a bloody "REPENT" written on one of the walls.

I'm not sure it was voodoo per se, but I got the impression that the lodge was either the moms childhood home or at least one of them. I think the custom dollhouse was her mom's when she was a child, and the doll was likely supposed to represent her, thus her daughter's attachment to it. Plus it is stated the revolver is a family heirloom of the ex wife's. All of this points to a strong connection between the lodge and the dead mom.

I just think the kids used the dollhouse as a sort of floor plan to visualize how they were going to drive her nuts.
