While I will admit that it's not a perfect movie
at least it's a character study as to why Arthur Fleck became a delusional psychopath because you understood where he was coming from. Society as a whole has been uncivilized for many years and considering everything he's been through (getting beaten up by three dudes, etc.), you at least felt bad for him despite being a psychopath.
