Lots of chatter that 2nd weekend predictions are way too low UPDATE:this is blowing up, guys

It seems most sites are predicting 42 million for a 55% drop.

I'm noticing a ton of people in the comments section openly laughing/scoffing at this and claiming it is 15-20 million too low.

I tend to agree with them. Something is happening here with this movie...something very TDKish.

That was the last time I have seen so much widespread gushing for a CBM. And I'm just seeing a kind of RESPECT and reverence for the film. It's almost like it's already an accepted classic even though it's only been out for a week.

I had to step back for a moment and think about what this means for the MCU. Will general audiences begin to view the Marvel brand as somewhat...i dunno...stale? Does anyone see Black Widow really being a hit in this new climate?

Who gives a shit? It’s not like we’re talking about Lorenzo’s Oil here.

Joker has made at the box office $741,318,680
Production budget of $62,300,000 only half of which was paid by the studio $31,150.000
Marketing of $63,000,000 paid completely by the studio.

1/4 of the box office goes to the studio $185,329,670 subtract the marketing and the studios portion of the budget you get $60,029,670 making this film profitable for this studio in 2019. In the coming weeks you this profit will increase.

Just bumping this forward for anyone to see that may be interested in case billbrown's lies have any impact on you.

Pity so much of it was deleted by the mods.

I went to see this On Opening night..If I went on opening night its gotta be a movie that will break box office records. I never goto movies on opening night unless its just one of those movies i gotta see.

why did mods delete them? you guys go back and forth all the time.

Good question. Once I started copying and reposting billbrown's incriminating posts they laid down the hammer.

You don't consider your last two sentences in your OP trolling Disney/Marvel?

Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy….

You wanted to start a discussion on the fortunes of Black Widow in a Post-Joker-Is-Great-Climate so let's discuss. I already gave you my viewpoint in an earlier post. Tell me what you think.

reply

No...I don't.

It was an honest post about what I felt this movie will cause in how CBM's are perceived from here on out.

I think there will be a sea-change and the idea of a Black Widow film already feels yawn-inducing and stale .

So why doesn't this Sea Change impact or affect the Wonder Woman 1984 movie? How is Wonder Woman 1984 immune to the Joker and WB's take on the Superhero genre?

reply

Black Widow is a prequel to Endgame and there doesn't seem to be any real stakes? ScarJo's take on it is getting a little long in the tooth and is an unknown as far as being a singular boxoffice draw.

Gal Gadot's it's Wonder Woman is fresher and is a proven singular draw.

The "sea change" is an added headwind against a black Widow more than WW84 for the reasons I gave.

saying a Joker movie about the Joker with The Joker is going to be a big hit and make a lot of money is like setting gas soaked rags on fire with a flamethrower.
