No, not that they'll end up best buddies with Daniel and Johnny, but that they have their own bad guy-redemption arc. When S6 ends, I don't want to see either of them in prison - I want them to find their own success, in their own way. They can't win over Miyagi-do, of course, but frankly I hate to see them defeated.
Terry Silver doesn't deserve a redemption arc, or at least a second one in my opinion.
Terry Silver had already turned his life around by the time Kreese reappeared in his life some 20 plus years later. When Kreese reappeared in his life 25 years later, he told Kreese he was done with him - he was already redeemed. But, like an alcoholic, he fell off the wagon and joined Kreese to again bring misery to people. Screw him.
Kreese is set up for a redemption of sorts in the way the story in Cobra Kai relayed the shocking things he suffered as a Viet Nam vet. It doesn't explain it all away but gives at least some insight into why Kreese was the way he was.
Season 5 ended with the series pretty much wrapped up and there was no redemption for Kreese written in, but since they added a sixth season, they could use some more plot filler. Kreese being redeemed could work.
I'm not talking about Silver turning good, but rather that he gets his "bad" good ending. Riding evilly off into the sunset, somehow. He had already sort of gotten there when he framed Kreese, thus ridding himself of his one weakness. Now I want him out of jail.
I'm thinking that Kreese will find out that his girlfriend from pre-Vietnam is actually still alive and he will reunite with her. Daniel or Johnny will somehow be involved in helping him discover this. Kreese will then no longer want to be enemies with them and will wind up helping them in some way.
It would take clever writing in my opinion to give Kreese another redemption arc, and by another I mean that in the finale of the previous season it looked like he already was redeemed before escaping from prison and proving he learned nothing.
Not saying it can't be done but it has to be done carefully - maybe write it so it looks like Kreese is actually on the cusp of defeating Daniel and Johnny and suddenly flipping in the last minute of the finale and finally do the right thing. Cut to Johnny and Daniel looking stunned.
