My lone grievance which is really petty!

I love how this show fully embraces and wraps itself completely in the Karate Kid universe while not "trying to do it's own thing". Only thing I don't like is how they showed Johnny lying on the mat after the crane kick...they revised that scene and it irks me lol. I know that's really petty ha ha. I understand they revised for dramatic effect to symbolize that moment being when Johnny fell from grace, but yeah. He didn't lie on the mat after the crane kick. He crawled away. I think it would have been just as effective for them to use that same crawl shot, then cut to him in modern day crawling to the toilet to puke after another lonely bender.

My other more significant grievance is that Johnny didn't speak with that same military cadence as John Kreese when it came to the classic..."Fear, does not exist in this dojo. Does it?!"

Don't get me wrong, overall...10 out of 10 no doubt.

Yeah. I hate the revised reaction to the crane kick too. Pisses me off every time I see it, and it was in every promo for this show.

I didn't mind it (though I, too, noticed it immediately)

I took it as metaphorical: how Johnny himself remembers his "fall from grace."

Hence, the jump-cut to present day with him in the exact same position

Yeah, you get me! Cutting to him crawling to the toilet after a hangover would have the same meaning!

At the beginning of KKII, we see Johnny totally disillusioned with Kreese.

Johnny of course retains his karate skills and the discipline, but he probably wouldn't want to be a Kreese Klone.

Was it a flashback? Maybe he remembered himself lying on the mat when in reality he crawled. People realistically misremember details
