Surprising number of references to Part III

Considering how much of a critical and commercial flop the third movie was, I surprised that they referenced it as many times as they did, especially in important scenes. The reinstatement hearing, where they mention Terry Silver and Mike Barnes ended up being even more important considering what Johnny said about Kreese, and then what happens at the end.

Though worth noting that they never showed any clips from it.

Also worth noting...…….. no references to the Next Karate Kid.

The writers actually did say they consider The next Karate Kid Cannon on an interview and they will reference it if appropriate. Although I doubt they will considering the very one off/Spin off nature of that film.

I remember seeing a picture in one scene from Karate Kid Part III. It was after Daniel beat Barnes. It's a picture of him celebrating with Mr. Miyagi after the victory.

If this show runs for a few years, they'll probably get around to referencing everything.

I look forward to Mr. Terry Silver returning next year, working alongside the GREATEST karate man I have EVER known, John Kreese. They will bring honesty, compassion, and fair play back to the valley, just in time for the 30th anniversary of their film, The Karate Kid Part III.

Odd reference I noticed upon my second viewing, I noticed that Robby tells Daniel "I feel like I'm like, Jackie Chan". That would be like Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins saying he feels like Michael Keaton.

reply

How so?
Jackie Chan is a real life martial artist as well as a movie star.
Bruce Wayne saying he feels like Michael Keaton wouldn't make any sense as it would suggest that he became Batman because of the movie with Keaton in it, called Batman!

reply

Robby referenced an actor who played another character in the same movie franchise as him (Mr. Han in The Karate Kid (2010)).

reply

I suppose
